The type of personal information we collect

The Past Revealed collects and processes the following information:
    - Your name and contact details
    - Demographic information, including your postcode
    - Website user statistics
    - Information regarding your family’s information where it is necessary to complete the requested service (e.g. dates of birth)
 We will only collect personal information where it is needed to provide you with the service you have requested.
How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
    - Enquiring about a genealogical service that we provide
    - Formally requesting a genealogical service
We use the information that you have given us in order to carry out the service you have requested. Your personal data will not be used for any other reason other than the service you have asked us to complete.
We will not share your personal information with anybody outside of The Past Revealed unless we have your prior permission or are required by law to do so.
Your data protection rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information is your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. To do so, please contact us (See Contact page).
You have the right to request the details of your personal information held by The Past Revealed.
You have the right to rectify your personal information if it is proven to be incorrect.
You have the right to have your information removed from our systems, except those held for tax purposes.
If you make a request regarding the above, we have one month to respond to you.
How we store your personal information
Your information will be securely stored.
Information regarding living (and deceased) people within our research will be archived, held securely and not processed after the contracted project has been delivered to the client.
Emails between the client, potential clients and ourselves will be held for one year after the completion of the project, in case further work is required. If a potential client does not proceed with the service, their details will be held for one year from the last point of contact, in case they later decide to take up a service.
Contracts, invoices and receipts containing the clients’ personal information will be kept for six years for tax purposes.
Your personal information will thereafter be disposed in an appropriate manner e.g. paper documents will be shredded
